Arte y Naturaleza

Descubra el cautivante paisaje serrano con las grandes y pequeñas sorpresas que ofrece la naturaleza. Disfrute de una galería de arte al aire libre y participe de la creación artesanal local. Recorriendo la ruta 37 llegamos a Pan de Azúcar.
Esta ciudad es un museo al aire libre, donde distintos artistas han pintado los muros de las casas. Podrán observar murales de Fontanarrosa, Sabat, Parisi, Páez Vilaró y Tola Invernizzi. Siguiendo por la misma ruta, nos encontramos con la ruta 60 que lleva a Minas. Antes del mojón del kilómetro 20, se encuentra el único camino hacia la izquierda (está señalizado) que conduce a una embotelladora de agua mineral y la estancia “Vistas del Betel”. Allí nos esperan visitas guiadas, paseos a caballo y paradores.
De regreso tomamos a la derecha el camino entre los dos puentecitos, así podremos recorrer Nueva Carrara, lugar de donde se extrajeron los mármoles para el Palacio Legislativo. (Por los demás tesoros que guarda Nueva Carrara infórmese allí.)
En este lugar, es común ver a los artesanos trabajando en mármol y granito. Entre este punto y el próximo pasaremos por un puente angosto por el que sólo pasa un vehículo, a la derecha encontraremos un casco de estancia viejo y el ingreso a los Pozos Azules de la Sierra de las Ánimas.
Siguiendo el camino, se llega a Gerona, kilómetro 110 (conocido como El Camino de los Artesanos). Aquí, los lugareños ayudados por la naturaleza crean bellas artesanías. A la izquierda, antes de pasar las vías del tren, una estación de ferrocarril nos hará sentir que el tiempo se detuvo en ese lugar.
Es recomendable la visita a “La vertiente del ángel” (viniendo por la ruta 9, en el cruce de la Interbalnearia tomando hacia Punta del Este), otra de las vertientes de agua natural mineral de la zona y además huerta orgánica. Continuando por la ruta Interbalnearia, encontramos un acceso a Piriápolis por la ruta de los Arrayanes: un camino que nos deja en la rambla, luego de transitar entre los cerros que mueren en la playa.

Driving along route 37, we arrive to Pan de Azucar, a real outdoor museum, where different walls have been painted by well-known artists. You can see murals made by Fontanarrosa, Sabat, Parisi, Paez Vilaro and Tola Invernizzi. If we continue on the same route, we will find route 60, which leads to Minas.
Before km. 20, there is a path, the only one on the left (well signaled) which leads to a mineral water bottling plant and the ranch “Vistas del Betel”, where guided tours, horseback ridings and inns peacefully await. 
On the way back, we take the road on the right, between two little bridges, so we can go to Nueva Carrara, the place where the marbles for the Palacio Legislativo were taken. (For other local treasures, ask for information right there). It is common to see the artisans working on marble and granite there.
Between this place and the following one, we go through a narrow bridge just for one vehicle, and on the right, we see the old main building of an “estancia” and the entrance to the Pozos Azules of the Sierra de las Animas.
On the same route, we arrive to Gerona, km. 110 (known as the Artisan’s road) where the local people helped by nature, create beautiful handcrafts.
On the left, just before crossing the train rails, an old train station will make us feel that time has stopped there. It is advisable to visit “La Vertiente del Angel” (when route 9, crosses the Interbalnearia, heading to Punta del Este), another natural mineral water spring of the area and also an organic vegetable garden.
On the same Interbalnearia route, we will find and access to Piriapolis on the Arrayanes route, a road that leads us to the Rambla after driving through hills that finally rest on the beach.
